Syll & some other stuff...

Afgelopen zaterdag heb ik de hele dag ervoor uitgetrokken om te schilderen. Hieronder staat het resultaat:

Verder ben ik gister nog bezig geweest met de oldenburger van bullyland. Hij heeft nu net iets meer dan een basis laag, maar hij is nog lang niet af. En dan als laatste, op de rommelmarkt afgelopen week kwam ik de GC brumby merrie tegen. Mijn modelpaarden gekte is ooit begonnen met Grand Champions paarden en in de tijd dat ik die modellen actief spaarde stond dit model hoog op mijn verlanglijstje en nu heb ik haar dan eindelijk. (Op de foto heb ik ook een beetje gespeeld met een logo, maar daar moet je maar niet al te veel aandacht aan schenken)

Besides that I took yesterday some time for repainting too and worked on the bullyland oldenburg. He's now got a little more than a base coat, but he has still a long way to go. And at last, on a fleemarket some days ago I came across the GC brumby mare. My modelhorse fever started once with the Grand Champion horses and at the time I was quite active in collection them, this mare was high on my wishlist, I now finally have her in my collection. (I was playing around a bit with a logo, but you shouldn't pay too much attention to it)

2 bullylandjes

Het is al weer een poosje geleden dat ik iets heb gepost (een maand alweer : o), maar ik heb niet een hele maand stil gezeten. Afgelopen pinksterweekend ben ik naar opwekking geweest (kamperen), dat was echt gaaf! maar nu moet ik weer een jaar wachten voor ik er weer heen mag ... snif ...

It's been a while since I posted something (last post was a month ago : o), but I haven't been doing nothing. Last Whitsun-weekend I went to opwekking (could be translated to 'revival', it's a Dutch festival) I went camping there. It was really awesome! unforutenately I have to wait a whole year until I can go there again 

Maar goed, op het gebied van modelpaarden ben ik bezig geweest met twee bullyland paardjes. Ten eerste natuurlijk de Oldenburger. Hij is helemaal geprept/primerd en dus klaar om beschilderd te worden. 

Anyway, to go back to the modelhorse hobby; I've been working on two bullyland horses. Firstly the Oldenburg horse of course. He's prepped/primered and ready to be painted.

 I like this angle the most :)

Ik weet nog niet precies hoe ik hem ga schilderen. Ik zat te denken aan een bay/dark bay maar chestnut is ook een mogelijkheid.

I'm not completely sure what colour I should give him. I was thinking about a bay or dark bay, but chestnut might be nice too.

Het andere  bullyland paardje is bijna af, alleen nog de puntjes op i en dan is hij klaar. Hij is niet zo groot (iets kleiner dan breyer sm) en voor de mensen die het model niet kennen komt hier eerst een "before" foto.

The other bullyland horse is almost finished, he only needs the finishing toutch. He's not a very large horse (just a bit smaller than breyer sm). I added a "before" picture for the people who don't know the mould:

April

"April" niet omdat het de maand april is, maar omdat mijn nieuwste custom een naam heeft die is afgeleid van de 4e maand :)

''Arpil" not because this month is called april, but because the name of my newest custom found it's origin in the forth month :)

Hier is de bullyland Oldenburger WIP. De manen zijn al klaar, de staart heeft nog wat aandacht nodig.

Daarnaast heb ik ook de Oldenburger van Bullyland gekocht (behalve dan zijn staart...). Hij is wel aardig beschadigd maar ik had toch body's nodig. Hij is nu al 'onder constructie' met behulp van mijn schuurpapier en mijn mesje. Ik heb geen foto's gemaakt dus je zal geduldig moeten wachten ;p

Besides that I've also bought the Oldenburger horse by Bullyland (except for his tail though...) he's damaged but he makes a lovely body. He's already 'under construction' with sanding paper and my knife. I haven't made pictures of him so you'll have to wait and see ;p

Aquarellen/watercolouring

Wat !? Ga jij je paarden aquarellen ? Nee, wees maar niet bang ;) Een paar weken geleden is mijn voorraad aan aquarel bijgevuld (hij was vrij leeg). Sommige mensen zullen aan waterverf denken (in het Engels heet het ook 'watercolours') maar aquarel is zeker geen goedkope waterverf voor kinderen. Het wordt meestal gebruikt bij het illustreren van boeken of in strips (voor die werden ingekleurd op de computer) oh ja, en ook bij de achtergrond in oude tekenfilms. Aquarel zij pigmenten die zijn opgelost in water met een speciaal bindmiddel.

Om weer even terug te gaan naar de reden van aquarel als titel van deze post... Ik was gisteren even bezig geweest met met mijn nieuwe aquarel en hieronder zie je het resultaat (niet de Engelse vertaling maar de tekening daaronder ;) ) Het is niet echt verbonden met model paarden, maar het heeft in elk geval wel iets te maken met dieren :)

What !? are you going to watercolour your horses? No, my friends ;) A few weeks ago I got myself new watercolours, or aquarel as I prefer to call them. When you say 'watercolours' people might thing you're talking about those cheap paint for children, but aquarel is a professional way of painting.It is frequently used in illustrations or in comics (before they were coloured with a computer) oh, and it's also used for the background in old animated cartoons. Watercolours (to use the official English name) are pigments suspended in a water-soluble vehicle

To go back to the point, I had some fun with my new watercolours last day and the results are below. It's not something model horse related but well, it's animal related :)

Silver-Moon Kennel

Ik ben bezig geweest met het opzetten van een modeldieren kennel :) Het is niet heel veel anders dan een modelpaarden studfarm, maar het is moeilijker om stambomen te vinden. Was er maar een ''all dog breed perdigree'' op internet.

I've been busy with creating (well, reform of improve is a better word actually) a model dog kennel (or kennels.. I don't know the correct word..). It doesn't really differ from a model horse studfarm. I't just harder to find pedigrees. I wish there was an ''all dog breed pedigree'' on the world wide web. The website is dutch, but you can always enjoy the pics ;)

Haartjes

De appaloosa merrie heeft een kleine wending gekregen. Ze wordt nog steeds een lichte palomino/chestnut achtige appaloosa maar wel een die een beetje roan is. Ik heb kleine haartjes ''gekrast'' is haar onderlaag en tot nu toe ziet het er zo uit:

The appaloosa mare is going to be a bit different from what I first intended. She's still going to be a light coloured appaloosa, but she's also going to be a bit roan. I ''etched'' small hairs into her base-coat, this is what she looks like now:

Daarnaast heeft het camargue veulentje van schleich wat extra shading gekregen. Ik weet nog niet zo goed of ze een camargue blijft of dat het een exmoor o.i.d. wordt.

Besides that I've also given the camargue foal by schleich some more shading. I'm not sure if I should show her as a camargue or as some other pony breed like exomoor or sth.
