Some grass and a frisian mare

De school is weer begonnen, wat betekent dat ik minder tijd heb voor customizen. Vooral om dat ik nu in mijn examen jaar zit. Ik hoop in de weekend wel wat te kunnen schilderen.

Ik ben bezig geweest met de Friese merrie, wat nu een Tinker is geworden. Eigenlijk was dat al weer een week geleden, maar ik had nog geen foto's gemaakt. Ik heb wat kleine details toegevoegd, hier en daar wat meer haar en ze staat geprimered klaar voor het schilderen. Voor de kleur zat ik te denken aan een soort isabel/palomino sabino.

School has started again, which means I won't have much time to customize. Especially now I'm in my last year of secondary school. I hope there will be some time left during the weekend.

I've been working on the Frisian mare and she's now a tinker, well actually that was a week ago, but I hadn't taken photo's of her back then. I added some minor details, mainly extra hair and she's now primered and ready to be painted. I was thinking about a sort of isabel/palomino sabino.

Gister was er een rommelmarkt in de buurt. Er was niet zo veel bijzonders te vind, maar ik heb wel een rol nep gras gekocht. Mijn oude stukje nep gras was ongeveer 10 x 10 cm en dus alleen geschikt voor kleine dieren.

Yesterday there was a flee market near my town. They didn't sell anything special, but I found some large patches of fake grass. My old piece of fake grass was a bit on the small side, about 10 x 10 cm and could only be used to take photo's of small animals.

Golden doggie

De Golden Retriever is klaar. De ogen zijn nu geschilderd en ze heeft een eigen zakdoek-halsband. Ik pesenteer: Leihla

Doggies

'Puss in Oils' staat nog steeds te drogen, maar hij komt langzaam maar zeker in de buurt van wat ik noem droog. Ondertussen zijn er een aantal honden onder het mes genomen. Waaronder deze golden retriever.

'Puss in Oils' is still drying, but he's slowly coming closer to what I call dry. Meanwhile there were some dogs that needed customization. One of them was this Golden Retriever.

Ze komt van een tweedehands winkel, waar ze alleen dieren per zakje verkopen. Wat betekent dat wanneer er een goed model in een zakje zit, je de rest erbij moet kopen... Deze golden was zo'n 'extraatje'. Ze zag er nog al ... schrikwekkend uit... toen ze uit het zakje kwam. Ten eerste had ze een plastic kroontje op haar hoofd (vandaar de gaten) en ten twee had ze geen ogen, maar 'plaatjes van ogen' op haar voorhoofd geplakt die verdacht veel op de ogen van een barbie leken... Die ogen heb ik er zo snel mogelijk afgeschraapt. Inmiddels heeft ze wel echte ogen en geen gaten meer in haar hoofd, helaas was het al donker toen ik besloot foto's te maken. Om niemand teleur te stellen zal de minst erge foto hier onder weergegeven worden.

I bought her in a secondhand shop, where they only sold animals in a plastic bag. Meaning that when you find a nice model in such a plastic bag, you had to buy the other models in that plastic bag too... Well this golden was an 'extra piece'. She kind of looked ... scary... when she came out of the plastic bag. First of all, there was an plastic crown stuck to her head (thence the holes) and secondly, she didn't had eyes, she had pictures of eyes, which looked more like a barbies eyes, than those of a dog. I scratched them of as soon as possible. Meanwhile, I gave her (real) eyes and her head is now hole-less. Unfortunately, it was already too dark when I thought of taking some pictures. To disappoint nobody, the least worst photo will be displayed bellow.

Puss in Oils

Vandaag heb ik het dan eindelijk geprobeerd... repainten met olieverf! De eerste laag viel wat tegen maar naar mate de lagen vorderde begon ik het steeds leuker te vinden. En ik kan nu begrijpen wat andere kunstenaars zo waarderen aan olie verf. Het slachtoffer was geen schleich... Dat was wel het eerste plan, maar de olieverf die ik nog in huis had, was waarschijnlijk hier gekomen omdat het was verward met aquarel of acryl verf. Wat betekent dat het uit de tijd stamt,  dat ik nog niet zo veel wist over verf soorten. Zodra het doosje (bijna ongebruikt) open was, waren er op verschillende doppen bruine plekken te zien; olie die uit de verf was 'gekropen'. Dat durfde ik mijn schleich veulentje toch maar niet aan te doen. Vandaar dat dit poesje het slachtoffer is geworden.

Tot nu toe ziet het eruit alsnog het goed gaat en ik hoop dat het er lang zo uit blijft zien. Als hij droger is, zullen de details eraan toegevoegd worden, maar voor nu zal hij even op de vensterbank moeten blijven drogen. 
*zoekt op internet hoelang het duurt voordat de verf droog is* Ai, dat word dus 1 tot 2 weken wachten...

Today, I finally tried it... painting a model in oils! While painting the first layer of paint, I was a bit disappointed. But when I added more and more layer it started to get better and better. I can see now why artist love to paint their horses with oils. The victim wasn't a schleich... I intended to try it on a schleich, but the oil paint I had at home, probably happened to be here because it was mistaken for acrylics. Which means it's still from the day I didn't know much about different types of paint. As soon as I opened the paint box (barely used), the covers of most of the tubes where covered with a layer of brown sticky 'stuff'; oil that had 'sneaked' out of the paint. I really didn't dare to put that on my schleich foal, that's why this kitty has become the victim.

Up to now it seems like everything is going all right, and I hope it will stay this way for a long time. When he is a bit drier, I'll add more details, but for now he'll stay on the windowsill drying. 
*searches the web to find out how long it will take for the oils to dry* Ouch, I'll have to wait another week... or two....

Bullyland Oldenburg finally finished!

Hé he, eindelijk is de oldenburger klaar, en ik ben zelfs tevreden over het resultaat. De 'bay-kleur' blijft voor mij een lastige kleur om te schilderen, vooral de diepte er in krijgen door de lichte kleur door de donkere heen te laten 'schijnen' is niet iets wat ik dagelijks doe. Maar het is mij zowaar gelukt, de eerste bay die ook op een bay lijkt (tenminste, een waar ik blij mee ben).  Zijn naam is: Innuendo (wat zijdelingse hint, indirecte verwijzing betekent). 

At last, the oldenburg is finally finished, and I'm even pleased with the result. The bay-colour is still a hard colour for me to paint. Especially the depth you want to create by letting the light colour 'shine' through the darker bay colour. But I somehow managed to create it, the first bay horse that looks like a bay (at least, a bay I'm happy with. His name is Innuendo (meaning  Lateral hint, indirect reference)

 Er staan nu al weer een heel aantal projecten te wachten, waaronder de schleich Friese merrie. Ik weet nog niet precies wat het gaat worden maar waarschijnlijk iets in de buurt van schimmel/dapple grey (misschien nog wel gecombineerd met tobiano...)

There are already loads of other projects waiting in the the body box, one of them is the schleich Frisian mare. I'm not sure what exactly I want to do with her, but it's probably going to be something like white/dapple grey (maybe even combined with tobiano...)

Afgelopen zaterdag heb ik de hele dag ervoor uitgetrokken om te schilderen. Hieronder staat het resultaat:

Grey overo filly

Verder ben ik gister nog bezig geweest met de oldenburger van bullyland. Hij heeft nu net iets meer dan een basis laag, maar hij is nog lang niet af. En dan als laatste, op de rommelmarkt afgelopen week kwam ik de GC brumby merrie tegen. Mijn modelpaarden gekte is ooit begonnen met Grand Champions paarden en in de tijd dat ik die modellen actief spaarde stond dit model hoog op mijn verlanglijstje en nu heb ik haar dan eindelijk. (Op de foto heb ik ook een beetje gespeeld met een logo, maar daar moet je maar niet al te veel aandacht aan schenken)

Besides that I took yesterday some time for repainting too and worked on the bullyland oldenburg. He's now got a little more than a base coat, but he has still a long way to go. And at last, on a fleemarket some days ago I came across the GC brumby mare. My modelhorse fever started once with the Grand Champion horses and at the time I was quite active in collection them, this mare was high on my wishlist, I now finally have her in my collection. (I was playing around a bit with a logo, but you shouldn't pay too much attention to it)

2 bullylandjes

Het is al weer een poosje geleden dat ik iets heb gepost (een maand alweer : o), maar ik heb niet een hele maand stil gezeten. Afgelopen pinksterweekend ben ik naar opwekking geweest (kamperen), dat was echt gaaf! maar nu moet ik weer een jaar wachten voor ik er weer heen mag ... snif ...

It's been a while since I posted something (last post was a month ago : o), but I haven't been doing nothing. Last Whitsun-weekend I went to opwekking (could be translated to 'revival', it's a Dutch festival) I went camping there. It was really awesome! unforutenately I have to wait a whole year until I can go there again 

Maar goed, op het gebied van modelpaarden ben ik bezig geweest met twee bullyland paardjes. Ten eerste natuurlijk de Oldenburger. Hij is helemaal geprept/primerd en dus klaar om beschilderd te worden. 

Anyway, to go back to the modelhorse hobby; I've been working on two bullyland horses. Firstly the Oldenburg horse of course. He's prepped/primered and ready to be painted.

 I like this angle the most :)

Ik weet nog niet precies hoe ik hem ga schilderen. Ik zat te denken aan een bay/dark bay maar chestnut is ook een mogelijkheid.

I'm not completely sure what colour I should give him. I was thinking about a bay or dark bay, but chestnut might be nice too.

Het andere  bullyland paardje is bijna af, alleen nog de puntjes op i en dan is hij klaar. Hij is niet zo groot (iets kleiner dan breyer sm) en voor de mensen die het model niet kennen komt hier eerst een "before" foto.

The other bullyland horse is almost finished, he only needs the finishing toutch. He's not a very large horse (just a bit smaller than breyer sm). I added a "before" picture for the people who don't know the mould:
